I am a private individual of a 'certain age' - with kids and grand kids and a ton of my own stuff - despite several clear-outs!I live in the UK and retired a couple of years ago. As an ex systems programmer i still take an active interest in developing software that is of particular interest to me.
3 years ago my remaining parent passed away and as the Next of Kin and 'Will' Executor - i had the job of sorting everything out.
The main financial elements, were of course, catered for and carried out as per the instructions in the will. But i made mistakes, which i now regret, while disposing of the bulk of items collected during a lifetime.
Unfortunately you can't turn the clock back - but i can help others avoid making the same mistakes. It's your stuff so YOU have your say now. Hopefully this will make the whole traumatic experience that bit easier and fairer for those left behind.
